O objetivo deste estudo foi relatar a experiência vivida em uma estratégia de aprendizagem aplicada a alunos da educação básica na rede pública de ensino do Distrito Federal. Estudo caracterizado como relato de experiência. A atividade teve a participação de 53 estudantes dos sextos e sétimos anos do ensino fundamental II, da Coordenação Regional de Ensino de Brazlândia – Distrito Federal, matriculados em escolas da zona rural. Os encontros foram realizados através da plataforma Google Meet e, ao longo de três encontros, o assunto Dengue foi abordado com o objetivo de conhecer a doença, seus métodos de prevenção e saber se a região na qual cada estudante habita possui ou não a presença do agente causador da doença. O referencial teórico utilizado foi uma síntese da Aprendizagem Significativa de D. Ausubel com o ensino por investigação. Como atividade experimental, foi proposta a construção e uso de uma armadilha para mosquitos da Dengue. Com o desenvolvimento desse experimento, somado ao conhecimento cotidiano dos estudantes, foi possível verificar um aumento na desenvoltura argumentativa destes, assim como das habilidades de compartilhamento de conhecimentos.
