Abstract
L’objet de notre article est de montrer que l’évaluation du fonctionnement social est un exercice de compréhension de la façon d’être dans le monde d’une personne, d’un groupe ou d’une communauté. L’acte professionnel en travail social est avant tout une démarche de compréhension épistémologique et d’interprétation professionnelle qui demande : a) une capacité de présence à soi et à l’autre-en-contexte; b) une ouverture pour permettre au dialogue de situer le sujet dans le monde comme horizon de possibles. Ainsi, évaluer le fonctionnement social implique une dimension subjective qui ne fait pas l’économie de la relation intersubjective assumée et affirmée avec autrui comme allié et comme autre soi-même, d’où l’intersubjectivité. En ce sens, l’évaluation du fonctionnement social permet de faire alliance avec autrui dans une logique dialogique et compréhensive sans laisser place à l’objectivation et à la thématisation dont peut souvent faire l’objet la personne, le groupe ou la communauté. Il s’agit, en ce sens, d’une pratique phénoménologique qui fait sens tout en donnant vie, mouvement et progrès à l’acte professionnel en travail social.
