LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Foodplants include: three Malvaceae species (Hibiscus liliiflorus Cav., H. rosa-sinensis L. and Gossypium sp.) in the Seychelles (; Legrand 1966; Gerlach & Matyot 2006); one Malvaceae species (Bombax ceiba L.) in Kenya (Gardner 1957); one Malvaceae species (Abelmoschus esculentus Moench) in Uganda (Nyiira 1973); two Malvaceae species (Sida rhombifolia L. and Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L.) in the Réunion (Bippus 2018); one Malvaceae species (Sida rhombifolia L.) in Madagascar (Bippus 2018); one Malvaceae species (Gossypium sp.) in Mauritius (Mamet & Williams 1993); and three Malvaceae species (Gossypium sp., Hibiscus sp. and Sida sp.), one Convolvulaceae species (Ipomoea sp.), one Solanaceae species (Lycopersicon sp.) and one Fabaceae species (Vigna sp.) in unnamed African country or countries (Gardner 1957; Pinhey 1975; Robinson & Kirke 1990). No specific host plants of the taxon have been identified with Zambia. The wasp species, Enicospilus dolosus (Tosquinet) (Ichneumonidae), is a parasitoid of the taxon in the Réunion (Rousse & van Noort 2014).
