Thrust Vectoring Simulation Study of Rotating Detonation Engine

Abstract
This study focuses on the thrust vector control principle of rotary detonation engine (RDE), aiming to explore the characteristics of the flow field and its effect on thrust vector control under non-uniform injection pressure conditions. In this study, the effect of thrust vector control of a rotary detonation engine (RDE) under different injection pressure ratios and wave head numbers is analyzed in detail through two-dimensional numerical simulations. It is found that in the single-wave mode, the peak thrust generated by the burst wave in the high-pressure region is about 15% higher than that in the low-pressure region, while the combined moment deflection angle can be up to 17.28° in the simulation time. In the two-wave mode, the sustained thrust in the high-pressure region is 10% higher than that in the low-pressure region, while the combined-moment deflection angle can be up to 23.24° during the simulation time. The combined moment deflection angle of the single-wave mode is more sensitive to the change of injection pressure ratio, which increases by 3.98° for the single-wave mode and 1.77° for the dual-wave mode, with an increment of 44.5% of the single-wave mode for a difference of 0.3 in both injection pressure ratios.
