General This publication gives populations for State Capital Cities, other major cities and other major urban centres at the Census of 30 June 1971 and available annual post-censal estimates up to 30 June 1973.For estimated population within a 40.25 km (25 mile) radius of selected urban centres at 30 June 1971, see the 1972 publication in this series, issued on 15 October 1973.2. For the State Capita!Cities and other major cities the populations are shown inTable 1 for the Statistical Division or Statistical District respectively.The boundaries of these Divisions and Districts are tixed and estimates are made annually.3.For other major urban centres die urban boundary is defined according to the Endings of the census.
