Abstract
I en kronik til Altinget fremlægger professor Marlene Wind sit bud på de største udfordringer for EU i den nærmeste fremtid samt på, hvordan EU skal tilgå disse. I kronikken forklarer Wind, hvorfor hun mener, at det økonomiske sammenhold ikke i sig selv er tilstrækkeligt i forhold til håndteringen af de demokratiske udfordringer, som ifølge hende presser EU både udefra og internt. Hun fremhæver især salget af kritisk europæisk infrastruktur til Rusland og Kina samt udbredelse af hybridregimer inden for Europas grænser som de største udfordinger. Wind konkluderer, at en mere offensiv insisteren på demokratiske værdier og europæisk levevis bør være et hovedfokusområde for Europa fremover.
