In the Bachelor's thesis, I deal with the significance of the hare's theme in the compositions of the so-called reversed world. The focal point of this thesis is the decoration of Hare chamber at Bučovice Castle, which will be set in a wider cultural context. The thesis focuses on the iconography of the hare theme in general, as well as on the occurrence and significance of the hare's depiction in the European environment. General parts of the thesis lay the basis for a deeper interpretation of the theme of the reversed world in Hare chamber in Bučovice. The themes of the reversed world, of various animal species in human roles, have a rich tradition, they appear in the edges of medieval illuminated manuscripts, in the late Renaissance graphic arts, and this tradition continues without interruption to the present day. This type of depiction could have satirical or moral significance, but its function could be just to entertain spectators. The Hare chamber is one of the five representative rooms of Bučovice Castle with a rich plastic decoration in good condition and paintings from the third quarter of the 16th century, showing the hare in human roles.
