Abstract
I tidsskriftet Ræson har Marlene Wind op til det tyske valg lavet et portræt af Merkel med fokus på hendes betydning for EU og Europas værdier. Wind laver en historisk gennemgang af Merkels lederskab i sammenhæng med EU's udvikling. Hun konkluderer desuden, at Merkel på mange måder har været en gave til Tyskland grundet hendes stabilitet, men at hun har været for svag i forhold til at stå op for EU's værdier.
