Abstract
The article focuses on the depiction of daily life among Siberian people in the first quarter of the 18th century as recorded in the expedition journal of D. G. Messerschmidt (analyzing notes from 1721-1722). Using descriptions of transportation, housing, food, and rituals of the Siberian peoples, the study examines the text's lexical features: borrowings from Russian (e.g., Podwoden, Struse) and Turkic languages (e.g., Jurte), as well as the formation of hybrid nominations (e.g., Salzstruse). An attempt is made to analyze which specific everyday details attracted the attention of the German traveler, being completely different from his familiar worldview.
