Formacja Canadian Rangershistoria i współczesne wyzwaniaNazwa Canadian Rangers dla osób nieznających dokładnie struktury Kanadyjskich Sił Zbrojnych może być myląca.Termin ranger jest bowiem obecnie najczęściej kojarzony z żołnierzami amerykańskich oddziałów specjalnych lub pracownika mi parków narodowych w USA.Charakter formacji z Kraju Klonowego Liścia nie ma jednak nic wspólnego ani z oddziałami amerykańskich rangersów1, szkolo nych do prowadzenia operacji na terytorium wroga, działań antyterrorystycznych oraz ochrony infrastruktury krytycznej, ani z podejmowaniem zadań związanych z utrzymaniem chronionych obszarów o szczególnym znaczeniu przyrodniczym lub lasów2.Także określenia używane często w Kanadzie dla opisu działalności i struktur Canadian Rangers, takie jak: "kanadyjska armia cieni", "strażnicy su werenności", "niekonwencjonalna siła zbrojna", "postmodernistyczna organizacja wojskowa", "oczy i uszy armii"3, choć trafnie obrazują część zadań podejmowanych przez członków tej formacji, nie oddają jednak w pełni charakteru ich służby.
