Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The aim of this study is to create a general typology and chronology of the LR3 type amphorae obtained from excavations performed between 1987-1989 in the southwest of Ephesus harbor. For this study, 90 amphora pieces were selected and these pieces were categorized according to the general form properties and then were investigated. Stratigraphy of the area was not good where the materials found, so comparative chronology method was used for creating chronology. Materials were compared with similar examples from Athenian Agora, Argos Agora and Berenike. LR3 type amphorae investigated in this thesis were dated between last quarter of 1. c. A.D. and late 6. c. A.D. Although the amphora workshop belong these amphorae which has a long traditional producing process had not been discovered in the Ephesos, petrographic analysis confirmed the one of these production sites is Ephesos. LR3 type amphorae should be the production of Ephesus in terms of petrographic analysis. These small amphorae which are thought to carry wine, oil or unguent had been circulating only in the eastern Mediterranean in Imperial Period, they had reached the most distant places in Late Antique Period.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
