La eliminación de la barriada Laffite constituye un ejemplo de los procesos empleados para limpiar los espacios señalados por la especulación inmobiliaria. Situada en Los Remedios, área convertida en los años sesenta del pasado siglo en residencia de la burguesía sevillana, donde ocupaba un enclave estratégico a la salida del nuevo puente del Generalísimo. Calificada como suburbio, alojaba a familias procedentes de Triana y otros lugares incluidos en el proyecto de ensanche aprobado para urbanizar la zona. El Ayuntamiento actuó como brazo ejecutor de Los Remedios S. A., concesionaria y arrendadora de las viviendas de la barriada, expulsando a los vecinos con destino a refugios o polígonos de viviendas en el extrarradio de Sevilla.
