Ce travail doctoral propose une compréhension globale de l’expérience du spectacle vivant, à travers le cas du concert de musiques actuelles. Il cherche à cerner l’essence symbolique et les mécanismes sous-jacents au vécu d’une telle expérience. Après avoir dressé un état des lieux épistémologique de notre discipline, une posture interprétativiste ouverte aux données quantitatives et qualitatives est défendue. Par le croisement d’une approche qualitative exploratoire (phénoménologie, observation participante, introspection) et d’un quantitatif exploratoire (modélisations interprétatives par l’outil statistique) combiné à un qualitatif confirmatoire (coproduction de résultats basée sur les modélisations), nous proposons une théorisation de l’expérience du concert. Tout d’abord, par le système de valeurs du concert, nous pouvons comprendre les sens attribués par les spectateurs à leur expérience. Ensuite, nous positionnons la dimension sensorielle comme le fondement de tout moment vécu par l’individu, par la mobilisation de la théorie incarnée. Enfin, cette thèse éclaire la dimension servicielle de l’expérience d’un spectacle vivant, à travers un double-processus engageant deux entités : l’artiste et la salle de spectacle.
