Biogeochemical Sampling of 28 Streams on Vancouver Island
Bibliographic record
Abstract
This dataset provides water chemistry data for several streams located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It is comprised of riverine measurements at 29 near-outlet stream locations in 28 watersheds, between November 2018 and January 2026. Data collection was done by several partners, following established field and lab protocols available in this data package. Until June 2023, we only collected samples for Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) analysis. Starting in June 2023, Total dissolved nitrogen (TDN), Ammonium (NH4), Silica (SiO2), Phosphate (PO4) and Nitrite+Nitrate (NO2+NO3) samples were added and collected during each sampling event while additional characteristics were also being collected by the Hakai Institute staff at selected sites. A selection of characteristics have been quality-controlled (QC) while other data is provided in a raw, uncontrolled form. It is the sole responsibility of the user to examine the presence of QC flags for each data point before including it in analyses, models, or visualizations.
Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; both teacher heads agree on what is shown here.
