Investigation of Anxiety, Depression, Social Isolation and Somatization According to The Levels of Alexithymia in Seafarers

Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı denizcilerin aleksitimi düzeylerine göre kaygı, depresyon, sosyal izolasyon ve somatizasyonlarını ve bu değişkenlerin demografik değişkenlere göre farklılaşmasını incelemektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda 25 kadın, 112 erkek olmak üzere toplam 137 denizciden veri toplanmıştır. Araştırmada denizcilerden bilgi edinmek amacıyla Demografik ve Mesleki Bilgi Formu, Toronto Aleksitimi Ölçeği, Beck Anksiyete Envanteri, Beck Depresyon Envanteri, Sosyal İzolasyon Ölçeği, Somatizasyon Ölçeği ve Görüşme Formu kullanılmıştır. Aleksitimi düzeylerine göre puanları incelemek amacıyla Kruskal-Wallis Testi, demografik değişkenlere göre Mann Whitney U Testi, sektöre özgü değişkenler ve puanları incelemek için Spearman Korelasyon Analizi kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarında denizcilerde aleksitimi oranının genel popülasyondan yüksek olduğu ve kaygı, depresyon, sosyal izolasyon ile somatizasyon puanlarının aleksitimi düzeylerine göre farklılaştığı, en yüksek puanın saf aleksitimik düzey grubuna ait olduğu görülmüştür. Cinsiyete, medeni duruma, çocuk varlığına, psikolojik destek geçmişi varlığına göre puanlar farklılaşırken; seyirde olma durumu ve gemi içi bölüme göre farklılaşmamaktadır. Kadın denizcilerin puanları erkeklerden, bekarların puanları evlilerden, çocuğu olmayanların puanları çocuğu olanlardan, psikolojik destek geçmişi olanların puanları olmayanlardan daha yüksektir. Puanların sektöre özgü değişkenler ile ilişkisine bakıldığında; yaş, sektör senesi, toplam hizmet ayının artması ile puanlar düşmekteyken, yılda seyir süresi ile ilişki bulunmamaktadır. Sektöre özgü değişkenler ile ilişki aleksitimi düzeylerine göre incelendiğinde, yalnızca aleksitimi yok düzey grubunda ilişki olduğu görülmüştür. Elde edilen bulgular literatürdeki bilgiler çerçevesinde tartışılmıştır.
