As one part of a larger orientation program to train new graduate teaching assistants for their upcoming teaching assignments, a seminar has been developed to underscore some of the important topics instructors should consider before undertaking the task of grading. The general areas addressed are good grading practices; administrative responsibilities; specific practices for examination grading; the supervisor’s perspective; and other topics, such as dealing with student complaints, cheating and plagiarism, and providing academic support for students in difficulty.
