Abstract
Este trabalho pretende explorar interseções entre a economia política e a economia psíquica do neoliberalismo. O projeto neoliberal leva às últimas consequências a concepção de <i>homo œconomicus</i> do utilitarismo e a amoralidade nela impressa pelo marginalismo. Para Foucault, a teoria neoliberal do capital humano tende a tornar o próprio sujeito um “empreendedor de si mesmo”. Incentiva-se o investimento em si, que incide sobre atributos físicos, psíquicos e intelectuais e se vale das técnicas de si, identificadas posteriormente por Foucault em seu estudo da cultura antiga. Sob o neoliberalismo, contudo, esse investimento não tem limites, podendo chegar por exemplo à eugenia; assim, o principal elemento crítico da análise de Foucault reside na identificação de um novo regime social de controle, baseado não na contenção (como no regime disciplinar clássico) mas na incitação, aproximando-se da ultra-subjetivação, em Laval e Dardot, e do culto à performance, em Ehrenberg. A injunção de performance característica do neoliberalismo articula-se ao imperativo do gozo, identificado por Lacan, nos mundos da produção e do consumo e na dinâmica geral do empreendedorismo neoliberal. Em diversas áreas, a busca de performance representa em si mesma uma fonte de gozo. Adicionalmente, a performance pode ter caráter instrumental, no sentido de viabilizar o gozo. Simetricamente, o imperativo do gozo pode ser concebido em termos de desempenho, na medida em que se idealiza e se mede o grau de felicidade e satisfação.
