Abstract
カナダ国アルバータ州エドモントン市は世界で初めてLRT(light rail transit)を導入した公 共交通先進地として有名であり、実地調査の結果を既に拙稿で発表している。 本稿では、エドモントンをはじめとする5都市の公共交通システムの運賃制度に焦点を当て、実地調査を行って分析することにより、その問題点の考察を行った。その結果、運賃制度が簡素である利点が全5都市で認められた一方で、IC カード化を行った都市でも従来の運賃収受方法を踏襲していることが明らかになった。 今後の課題として、エドモントン以外の4都市の大人運賃以外の運賃種別の比較、オタワ市の実地調査、エドモントンのIC カード乗車券についての調査、原価および費用の分析などが挙げられる。
