Abstract
Cette étude est la première à s’intéresser aux bénéfices de l’exposition à la nature sur l’attention et la mémoire de travail chez des adultes présentant un trouble du développement intellectuel (TDI). Les 69 participants ont été assignés à l’un des trois groupes expérimentaux selon le contenu de l’exposition (vidéo de nature; vidéo urbaine; formes géométriques). Sur le plan cognitif, les résultats démontrent clairement que la nature améliore les performances attentionnelles et mémorielles d’adultes présentant un TDI qui témoignent une préférence marquée pour le contenu naturel. Ces résultats devraient inciter les responsables des établissements accueillant des adultes présentant un TDI à intégrer plus d’espaces naturels, offrant ainsi des avantages restaurateurs dans la vie quotidienne et professionnelle.
