L’inclusion sociale des personnes avec un trouble du développement intellectuel dans la littérature jeunesse

Abstract
Malgré les évolutions législatives et des représentations, les personnes ayant un trouble du développement intellectuel (TDI) connaissent des limites d’inclusion sociale, alors même qu’elle constitue un droit commun fondamental au sentiment d’épanouissement personnel. La littérature jeunesse, reflet des modes de pensée d’une société, peut faire évoluer les représentations. Si diverses études se sont intéressées aux représentations des personnes avec un TDI ayant une étiologie spécifique comme la trisomie 21 dans les ouvrages jeunesse, aucune ne semble avoir étudié le TDI sans étiologie, constituant pourtant un réel spectre et concernant une population importante. Cette analyse, d’un corpus de 30 ouvrages à destination d’enfants de 3 à 11 ans, met en évidence les leviers qui vont soutenir l’inclusion du protagoniste atypique. Une importance particulière semble accordée à la compréhension du TDI et à la création de liens sociaux. Les ouvrages jeunesse semblent sensibiliser à la bienveillance, à l’empathie, véhiculer des valeurs de respect et ainsi constituer un soutien adapté pour la sensibilisation des plus jeunes.
