À l’heure de l’Anthropocène, l’éducation à la biodiversité comporte de nombreux défis, dont celui de développer le sentiment de pouvoir agir des jeunes face à l’érosion de la biodiversité. Puisqu’ils sont particulièrement vulnérables face à cette problématique sociale, environnementale et économique, les jeunes devraient pouvoir bénéficier d’une éducation qui les fait se sentir prêts et être accompagnés dans la résolution de la crise. Dans cet article, nous nous intéressons au sentiment de pouvoir agir de jeunes du secondaire entre 12 et 16 ans (N =76) face à l’érosion de la biodiversité. Par l’entremise d’un questionnaire semi-dirigé, il a été possible d’explorer la conception que se font les jeunes de la biodiversité, leur lien affectif envers celle-ci et leur sentiment au regard de leur participation citoyenne. Les résultats indiquent que les jeunes se disent conscients de la menace qui pèse sur la biodiversité et se sentent capables d’aider à sa protection, malgré une faible compréhension conceptuelle de ce qu’est la biodiversité.
