Organisations socio-éducatives originale, les — mouvements de jeunes connaissent en Alsace une histoire singulière à partir de la fin de la Première Guerre mondiale. Convergeant autour d’un objectif global de formation des enfants et adolescents selon des principes et des pédagogies résolument innovants, imprégnés dans le même temps des enjeux politiques, idéologiques et confessionnels propres à cette région, les rapports qu’ils entretiennent oscillent entre conflits et coopération. Évoluant vers davantage d’entente que de concurrence, ce dialogue apparaît fécond et permet aux mouvements de jeunesse de figurer comme des instances essentielles de socialisation jusqu’au milieu des années 1960.
