Abstract
This article provides the results of the study of discharge characteristics of glass insulators dismantled in PJSC Rosseti Moscow Region (Southern grids), which showed specifi c distribution of pollution from typical sources (major roads) and provided the grounds to judge about the quality of visual monitoring of the line insulation condition. The article describes the methodology of performing laboratory experi- ments with dismantled insulators and evaluation of the withstand voltage, as well as the methodology of reducing the discharge voltage evaluation results to uniform conditions to estimate the nature of pollu- tion distribution.
