Abstract

-- ABSTRACT : This thesis states that writing, in a context where Québec is conceived in postnational politic structure that leaves the writer to face an aporia: it is embedded in a language and a culture, French and québécois, undermined by pluralistic discourses that are constantly preaching the mixing and abandonment of this language and culture. Torn between the rooting and the shifting injunctions, the québécois writer creates surrounded by a tension that unsettles his work. As Victor-Lévy Beaulieu writes: I know for a fact that if the genius exists, it has nothing to do with the individual but everything to do with a society that carries him and that he carries. In other words, if a community can't be based on itself, it drowns into the fatigue of having to stand up by itself without any help. Thus, the creator from this community necessarily feels the harmful effects of this weakened collective being-in-the-world. Inspired by the thesis of Michel Biron, Isabelle Daunais and François Ouellet, this text postulates that the absence of a literary master prevents Quebec writers from reaching a constant imaginary able to tell adventures that meets international readers. The creative part of the thesis brings fiction into the Quebec community down to one area, more specifically this fictional space becomes a hot spot that serves as a stage to the rerouting of Quebec's destiny by the Canadian system. In fact, "Noir metal" is written with the bad conscience of being a province submitted to an external authority that uses its power to divide and conquer (postulating that multiculturalism from the pluralistic philosophy is a deeply cleaving ideology). The characters from the novel are prisoners of a tyrant that bases his power upon wealth and some sort of a spirit ascendant - moreover, this power comes from his enrichment through a financial and political conspiracy. It is with the joint efforts of a police officer and a sacred music artist that they will destroy the authority, perhaps the dictatorship, from the one who calls himself ''le Général''. In other words, the novel postulates that to get away from the pluralist balkanization of the community - which makes it politically powerless - we must reform the authority in an anchored political order by a spiritual connection at the top and by an owned and inhabited physical location at the bottom. -- Mot(s) clé(s) en anglais : Quebec; Canada; Identity; Nationalism; Province; Writing; Political fiction; Black metal; Contemporary novel ; Victor-Lévy Beaulieu.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
