Abstract
En las últimas décadas se han detectado diversos cambios en la circulación atmosférica del hemisferio sur (HS). Entre ellos se destacan el desplazamiento hacia el polo de la celda de Hadley y de la corriente en chorro de niveles altos o la intensificación de los storm tracks (Shaw et al. 2024). Estas alteraciones han generado, a su vez, tendencias en las precipitaciones de regiones continentales, incluyendo amplios sectores de Sudamérica. Las tendencias de la circulación atmosférica del HS están siendo moduladas por la combinación de factores como el incremento en las concentraciones de gases de efecto invernadero (GEI), la disminución del ozono estratosférico debido a las sustancias que debilitan la capa de ozono (ODS), o las emisiones antropogénicas de aerosoles troposféricos. La magnitud en que cada uno de estos forzantes influye en el clima superficial sigue siendo una pregunta abierta, particularmente en vista del aumento de los niveles de gases de efecto invernadero, la recuperación gradual del ozono estratosférico tras el Protocolo de Montreal y la disminución de las emisiones de aerosoles debido a las regulaciones de calidad del aire.
