Cet article se penche sur la place qu’occupe la guitare dans les expériences migratoires des Touaregs installés en France. À partir d’une enquête ethnographique menée auprès de musiciens et de membres de la diaspora, l’analyse met en lumière l’instrument comme un moyen de transmission culturelle, un lien affectif avec le pays d’origine, mais aussi un objet de négociation identitaire. Le texte examine les sens multiples de la guitare : son rôle dans l’expression de la nostalgie, ses usages dans les rassemblements communautaires ou encore les formes de reconnaissance et/ou de contraintes liées à sa pratique. Car si la guitare est un objet d’expérimentation et de création, elle est aussi traversée par des attentes esthétiques et politiques, tant du côté des publics diasporiques que du côté du public occidental. À travers cette étude, il s’agira donc de comprendre comment la guitare touareg cristallise des tensions, tout en ouvrant des possibles pour réfléchir aux liens entre musique, exil et appartenance.
