Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Two trenches excavated across the car and King Street. An archaeological watching brief was undertaken by Worcestershire Archaeology in September 2023 at King Street Car Park, Sidbury, Worcester (NGR SO 85185 54394). This comprised two trenches across the car park and King Street. The project was commissioned by Worcester City Council, in advance of the installation of electric vehicle charging points along the south-east side of the car park, via a new below ground electric cable. Walls and surfaces dating to the post-medieval period were identified directly beneath the modern car park surface, which correlated well with historic maps. Beneath these structures, deposits of probable 16th-18th century date were recorded, one of which was the fill of a probable cess pit. Residual Roman and medieval pottery was also recovered, which is evidence of previous land use. Where the trench extended across King Street, there was a lot of truncation related to modern services, but an area of red marl could possibly be part of the conjectured Saxon haga encompassing an area around Sidbury.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
