Abstract
Les pouvoirs publics français ont longtemps réservé un traitement discriminant aux corps des personnes séropositives décédées en interdisant jusqu’en 2018 la réalisation de soins de conservation, ou thanatopraxie, sur les défunts séropositifs, alors même qu’un tel traitement était parfaitement évitable, comme le montre l’exemple de la réglementation canadienne en la matière, et qu’il participait à l’ostracisation des personnes concernées. En réaction à cette ostracisation, les activistes de la lutte contre le sida ont instrumentalisé de plusieurs manières les corps de défunts séropositifs et, plus largement, la question du deuil dans une dynamique de revendications politiques et normatives, révélant ainsi le potentiel militant du cadavre.
