Abstract
Dans la Bible, Ben Sira 38,16-17 est le seul texte de sagesse qui présente des directives au sujet des rites de deuil et des rites funèbres. Cet article vise un double objectif : 1) comparer la version hébraïque du texte de Ben Sira avec la traduction grecque de son petit-fils, afin de mettre en évidence leurs divergences significatives; 2) comparer ces versets 16-17 avec d’autres textes de la Bible et de l’Antiquité, afin de mieux cerner le caractère singulier des recommandations de Ben Sira et de son petit-fils. Cette double analyse comparée permettra de mieux cerner la vision de la mort de Ben Sira et la relativité des normes culturelles et religieuses en ce qui concerne les rites funèbres et les rites de deuil.
