Abstract
Comme d’autres productions dites périphériques, la production artistique acadienne a souvent été considérée comme reculée par rapport au Québec, sur le plan tant géographique que temporel. Le présent article se penche sur la manière dont l’auteur-compositeur-interprète Arthur Comeau renverse cette double perception. Après avoir connu le succès au Québec et modernisé l’image de l’Acadie avec le groupe Radio Radio, il retourne à Meteghan, en Nouvelle-Écosse, pour y poursuivre une carrière solo. Sur le plan géographique, il fait de ce lieu la « number one first place » (l’endroit numéro un) apte à stimuler la relève locale et à attirer les collaborations québécoises. Sur le plan temporel, il se sert du vernaculaire acadjonne comme matériau porteur d’innovation, situant Meteghan dans une avant-garde esthétique. Ainsi, il reconfigure les scénarios attendus de reconnaissance et la direction des échanges artistiques entre l’Acadie et le Québec.
