Selon le récit historique dominant au Québec, le Canada français prend fin au courant des États généraux de 1967 et de 1969 qui annoncent la genèse d’une nouvelle société. Il est pourtant possible de retrouver la trace du Canada français dans quelques pièces de théâtre québécoises jouées ou publiées entre 2013 et 2020. C’est ce que fait Nicole Nolette en considérant les références culturelles et les filiations qui montrent la persistance fantomatique ou monstrueuse du Canada français dans Mommy (2013) d’Olivier Choinière, Dominion (2013) de Sébastien Dodge, la trilogie L’histoire révélée du Canada français, 1608-1998 (2016) d’Alexis Martin et Valparaiso (2019) de Dominick Parenteau-Lebeuf.
