Ocho fueron los lugares de las Siete Merindades de Castilla Vieja: Moneo, Bascunuelos, Bustillo de Villarcayo y Villaran, Villlalacre, Villaventm, Momediano y Paresotas aforados al fuero de Vizcaya desde el ultimo tercio del siglos XIV hasta finales del siglo XVIII; debian participar en las cargas fiscales y personales con el señorío de Vizcaya, pero siempre permanecieron bajo la jurisdiccion del Alcalde Mayor o Corregidor de las Siete Merindades de Castilla Vieja residente en Villarcayo.
