Abstract
My name is Gary Malkowski. I am the former Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education, as well as the first deaf MPP, Member of Provincial Parliament in Toronto, Ontario, in Canada. Currently I am the Special Advisor to the President, Public Affairs, at The Canadian Hearing Society. Canadian Hearing Society is a social services agency that provides services such as employment services, CONNECT mental health counseling services, sign language services, Ontario Interpreting Services, and so on. My role focuses on government affairs, pushing for changes in policies, regulations, and laws that would impact the lives of deaf and hard of hearing individuals. These changes include more sign language interpreters, more real-time captioning, and others. Translated English available.
