Validación del test progresivo de la Universidad de Montreal (TPUM) en la comunidad escolar de enseñanza media de la ciudad de Talca - Chile

Abstract
El objetivo del presente estudio fue validar el Test Progresivo de la Universidad de Montreal (TPUM) en jóvenes escolares, de enseñanza media, de la ciudad de Talca — Chile, donde la muestra fue de sujetos voluntarios, seleccionados de los colegios y liceos de la ciudad que respondieron a la solicitud de ser estudiados, con un total de 327 individuos, 173 damas y 154 varones, a quienes se les aplicó el TPUM, y algunos de ellos fueron sometidos a tests de comprobación a partir de otros tests conocidos y validados para la cualidad, test de lactato (39 individuos), test de Cooper (40 individuos) y test naveta (96 individuos). Por otro lado, se utilizó estadística descriptiva de media, desviación estándar y rango para caracterizar a los grupos. Finalmente, los resultados muestran que el TPUM es válido para la población estudiada, que mide el V02 máx. de forma muy similar a como lo hacen el test de Cooper y el test Naveta, siendo un test de fácil acceso, objetivo y confiable para la determinación de la PAM en los escolares de enseñanza media, científico humanista, de la ciudad de Talca-Chile. Así también se logró establecer que los niveles de potencia aeróbica máxima (PAM) esperada para este rango de edad (14 a 19 años) era el adecuado e incluso superior al estándar internacional.
