Isabel Luberza Oppenheimer, conocida por el nombre "Isabel la Negra", fue dueña de uno de los prostíbulos más exitosos del Caribe, Elizabeth’s Dancing Place en Ponce, desde 1932 hasta 1974. A pesar de ser una figura controversial, Isabel se convirtió en un ícono en Ponce y Puerto Rico durante el siglo XX. El propósito de la siguiente investigación histórica es poder entender el éxito del negocio de Isabel a pesar de la ilegalidad del mismo mediante la evaluación de las conexiones políticas, judiciales y policiales de Isabel adquiridas por su poder económico. Además, se estará evaluando cómo Isabel era vista y representada por el pueblo ponceño y puertorriqueño. Se empleó el uso de fuentes primarias y secundarias encontradas en el Archivo Histórico Municipal de Ponce.
