Abstract
L’espace-lisière tracé par la distance qui sépare Paris et Cergy constitue la matière du Journal du dehors d’Annie Ernaux. À la lecture de cette œuvre s’esquissent les contours d’une réflexion sur un espace de la lisière, autour, dans et à l’extérieur de la Ville Nouvelle. Nous tâcherons donc de voir en quoi cette frontière poreuse, à la fois géographique, temporelle et fictionnelle, donne forme à l’espace du texte. L’espace, tel qu’il est représenté dans le texte, nous intéresse tout particulièrement parce qu’il est travaillé par – et il travaille à son tour – la forme littéraire du journal. Plus encore, la narration mobilise une écriture qui traverse la frontière de la littérature et se veut presque photographie. Voilà ce qui retiendra d’abord notre attention, puisque le texte parvient à mettre en tension, un peu à l’image du palimpseste, deux temporalités (celle de l’immédiateté de l’expérience et celle du récit), et brouille la frontière qui les sépare.
