Abstract
本稿では，1か月の週労働時間が52時間以上であると働きすぎとみなす。筆者は元大手家電メーカー社員（甲）に対する面接調査を2017年2月に行った。甲が大手家電メーカーで働いていた時で最も長い長時間労働をしていた時期は1995年1月から6月で，週労働時間は55時間であった。甲は1995年1月から6月にかけて，「働きすぎ」であった。甲の働く動機として「他の会社にない機能をつけるという役割の実現」がみられた。また，「他の会社にない機能をつけるという役割の実現」という働く動機のよりどころとして技術革新主義という家電業界の業界イデオロギーが見出された。技術革新主義をよりどころとした「他の会社にない機能をつけるという役割の実現」という働く動機は，働きすぎの家電メーカー社員が家電メーカー社員として技術革新主義を持っていたがゆえに，働きすぎの家電メーカー社員にとって長時間労働に対しての納得となり，長時間労働を進めていく動機として存在した。
