Abstract
L’objectif de cette étude a été de vérifier l’hypothèse d’un changement en cours au sein du vernaculaire urbain contemporain au Québec. Nous avons attesté de la variation entre (ça) fait (que) et « so » en fonction de marqueur de conséquence. Le conditionnement social de cette variable révèle un cas possible de changement en cours parce que les artistes rap québécois de genre féminin font un usage élevé de « so » et ce sont les artistes les plus jeunes qui le produisent davantage. Nos résultats suggèrent que les deux variantes sont indexicalisées, (ça) fait (que) indexant une identité liée aux origines québécoises et « so » renvoyant plutôt à une identité à la fois locale et mondialisée.
