Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Euthanasia remains one of the most debated issues in practical ethics, with countries such as Belgium, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada permitting it under specific conditions, while India allows limited forms of passive euthanasia. Literally meaning “good death,” euthanasia refers to ending the life of a terminally ill patient to relieve unbearable suffering, typically with medical assistance and consent. However, defining euthanasia as a painless death raises ethical concerns, as similar acts could be misused for personal interests. While it is often justified as an act of compassion for patients with incurable diseases and intolerable pain, its moral acceptability remains contested. There is a significant risk of misuse, where individuals may exploit legal provisions for personal gain under the guise of relief. From an Indian philosophical perspective, euthanasia is largely incompatible with doctrines such as karmavāda and rebirth, which emphasize the completion of one’s karmic cycle. Ending life prematurely may interrupt this process. Furthermore, euthanasia can be viewed as reflecting limitations of medical science, where death becomes a substitute for care. This raises critical questions regarding authority, ethical standards, and the physician’s role, ultimately challenging whether euthanasia represents genuine relief or concealed moral wrongdoing. Abstract in Bengali Language:

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
