Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

A quintessentially Canadian writer and yet successful on the international stage, Margaret Atwood, illustrates both the postcolonial and the postmodern conditions in her latest novel. In her search for a subject native to her country, she sets Alias Grace in the past, choosing famous murderess Grace Marks as her main character. At first a mere object of study for Dr Jordan, who embodies the dual cultural imperialism threatening Canada, Grace ends up having the last word while Jordan finds himself silenced by poetic justice, so that an authentic Canadian voice can make itself heard. The very existence of Canada depends on its ability to express itself : it is Grace therefore who must speak, not Jordan. However necessary this may be, she discovers it is impossible to do so, and abandons language in order to express herself through the medium of patchwork quilts which are emblematic of Canada and symbolic of the postmodern work.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
