Abstract
Le Bâtiment 7 est un édifice de 9 200 m2 situé sur les terrains du Canadien National à Pointe-Saint-Charles (Tio'tia:ke/Montréal) qui, après 9 ans de lutte, a été cédé en 2012 par un propriétaire capitaliste à l'OSBL Le Collectif 7 à Nous. Cette présentation vise à explorer comment le Bâtiment 7, en faisant vivre un ensemble diversifié de pratiques économiques émancipatrices (Gibson-Graham, 1996, 2006), provoque des brèches dans les modes de fonctionnement dominants, et ce faisant, contribue à bâtir une société post-capitaliste. À partir de données empiriques recueillies par l’autrice, chercheure engagée et co-fondatrice du Bâtiment 7, nous allons explorer des pratiques émancipatrices telles que la réorganisation du travail pour améliorer le bien-être; la participation des travailleu·reuses dans les décisions sur la distribution des surplus; la pratique de transactions éthiques et réciproques; le maintien et le renouvellement des communs; et l’investissement dans le vivre ensemble de la communauté et des générations futures. Cette analyse élucidera l’existence d’une économie de communauté basée sur des valeurs qui sont en porte-à-faux à celles qui dominent, dont l’aide mutuelle, la diversité, l’autonomie collective et la justice sociale (Kruzynski, 2017).
