Abstract
The article deals with the research of one of the most expressive architectural monuments of Gorny Altai of the end of the 19th century the Temple of Vsemilostivy Spas ( Merciful Savior) in Ulala (mod. Gorno-Altaisk). In the middle of the 20th century the temple was lost, but remained photos, archive materials and reminiscences of old residents helped mush in the reconstruction of its appearance and the most important architectural traits. The architecture of this temple distinguished itself by the absence of the style 'clearness' and simultaneously by the turning to the sources of Russian architecture (in details), and it was typical of those times. In spite of the fact that the temple was buld not by the professional engineers, its proportions were practically equal to the golden section, though the absence of a professional architect on the stage of projecting is clearly seen. The results of research work lead to the conclusion the architecture of the temple correspond to the end of the 19th century when the clearness of Russian-Byzantium style was broken by various traditions, forms and modes and eclectic impregnations.
