La era de la posdictadura en Argentina, como en otras naciones emergiendo a una democracia, ha sido tumultuosa y Uena de contradicciones. Muchas naciones se debaten entre los beneficios de empezar de nuevo o mantener una memoria viva de los traumas historicos. En el caso de Argentina, las leyes de impunidad pro tegieron a los militares, previniendo que muchos de los culpables fueran persegui dos segun la ley. Como consecuencia, seprivo a las victimas no solo de un sentido de justicia, sino tambien del derecho a contar sus historias. Ademds, el pacto de silencio entre los militares contribuyd a una represion colectiva que fue respalda da y aun autorizada por el sistema judicial Esta falta de conciencia y la manipu lacion de un discurso autoritario se manifiestan en la protagonista principal de Realidad nacional desde la cama, quien sufre de las repercusiones del trauma debido a los vinculos inquietantes que ve entre elpasado y elpresente desde su ca ma. Una lectura psicoanalitica e interdisciplinaria de la novela revela los vacios que existen en una historia complicada por el trauma, vacios que seran reem plazados por las multiples historias que luchan por ser contadas e incluidas en el discurso nacional
