Abstract
Cet article cherche à comprendre les dynamiques institutionnelles, les parcours individuels et les productions intellectuelles qui ont concouru à la formation de « l’économie médicale ». Pour étudier ensemble l’usage social des raisonnements économiques et leurs propriétés spécifiquement intellectuelles, la notion de « motif cognitif » a été introduite, ce qui permet de saisir empiriquement des raisonnements, par nature plus difficiles à observer que d’autres phénomènes sociaux, plus directement accessibles. Le travail des économistes peut alors être appréhendé comme un processus de production, de rationalisation et d’utilisation de motifs cognitifs.
