Abstract
Dans cet article, les auteurs explicitent la conception de la psychose sous-jacente à leur approche dans une communauté thérapeutique fondée en janvier 1981, et qui se nomme La Chrysalide. Pour eux, la psychose est un système de défense face aux conflits relationnels et aux conflits intrapsychiques. En un mot, ils croient que la folie est compréhensible et que le client, une fois cette compréhension acquise, ne recourra plus à ses défenses habituelles pour s'adapter au milieu environnant. Ils explicitent ensuite concrètement la structure et le fonctionnement de cette communauté, pour analyser par après les seize premiers mois de fonctionnement selon l'approche sociale de Jones. Ils analysent en particulier les types de crise, les rôles et retracent l'évolution cyclique du groupe de résidents durant ces quelques mois, évolution qui a oscillé entre l'individualisme et le communautaire. Ils concluent leur article en énumérant les dangers qui guettent les participants d'une telle entreprise.
