Abstract
L'objet de cet article est l'analyse de la mise sur pied et du développement de l'École des sciences sociales de l'Université Laval (Québec) qui, entre les années 1940 et 1950, joue un rôle déterminant dans le processus d'institutionnalisation de ces disciplines au Québec. Une attention particulière est accordée à l'apparition d'un corps de spécialistes permanents, qui tentent d'obtenir la reconnaissance sociale de leurs activités intellectuelles et scientifiques et qui adoptent diverses stratégies (imitation d'un modèle d'enseignement, utilisation d'une main-d'œuvre étrangère, alliance avec les membres d'autres disciplines, appui à des groupes sociaux, etc.). La constitution d'un tel corps n'est pas seulement corrélative d'une dépossession de ceux qui en sont exclus, c'est-à-dire à la fin des années 40 de ceux qui n'ont qu'une formation théologique, philosophique ou juridique, de plus celle-ci s'accompagne d'une redéfinition des fonctions que remplissent les diverses instances dans la division du travail politique et d'une redéfinition du travail politique lui-même.
