Mieux vieillir et mieux mourir, mieux accepter notre vieillir et notre mourir : ces objectifs nobles et ambitieux s’inscrivent dans tout un courant de pensée et d’action qui émerge des inquiétudes de notre temps perturbé. Face à la technocratie, l’humanisme. Face à une conception rationaliste et positiviste de la science, une conception systémique et holistique. Face à l’homme morcelé, l’homme global. Face à la division du travail et à l’éclatement de la vie, la solidarité des êtres et des âges. Face à la société de déliance, des stratégies de reliance. La reliance, enjeu fondamental, pour que le devoir-vieillir devienne, par le biais d’initiations réinventées, un vouloir-devenir, source d’un autre vivre et d’un autre mourir, ou, si l’on veut, d’un autre mûrir. Cela mérite quelques explications, un regard sur notre société, son passé, son présent et son avenir, sur ses approches du vieillir et du mourir.
