Abstract
In the field of strategic management research, works devoted to entrepreneurial issues are, with increasing frequency, reflecting on the internationalization processes of start-ups. The present research paper uses the theoretical framework of the new institutional economy to study the location strategies of high-technology young firms at the time of the initial entry decisions. More specifically, we consider that these firms tend to initiate their internationalization processes by penetrating countries with legal environments close to those of their home country and do so to limit the transaction costs generated by the environmental uncertainty that the host country represents. An empirical test of a sample of start-ups in Germany and the United Kingdom confirms this hypothesis. [PUBLICATION ABSTRACT]
