Abstract
En este art?culo se examina una de las pel?culas menos estudiadas de la directora argentina, Mar?a Luisa Bemberg, desde una perspectiva hasta ahora no tocada. La escasa cr?tica que existe sobre Miss Mary, por lo general, tiende a enfocar el proyecto feminista de la directora, o su representaci?n hist?rica de la llamada D?cada infame en Argentina, desde la perspectiva particular de la oligarqu?a. Sin embargo, la pel?cula tambi?n ofrece una mirada muy interesante de los c?digos y procesos del imperialismo cultural europeo, especialmente el brit?nico, y los efectos inevitables que tiene en esa clase social en particular, y los movimientos pol?ticos de la ?poca. La llegada de una representante estereot?pica del Imperio brit?nico a la estancia sirve como trasfondo para una exploraci?n de la funci?n no s?lo del lenguaje, sino de la representaci?n misma como mecanismo de colonizaci?n socio-cultural. La ignominiosa ca?da moral de la institutriz ofrece un fuerte paralelo con la situaci?n de la ?lite ante los cambios pol?ticos que llevar?n a la ?poca de Per?n.
