Abstract
Fort Halifax, an unrecovered French and Indian War fort, was located in Halifax, Pennsylvania. Only active from 1756-1757, it served as a waypoint for the transportation of military goods and equipment. While there is written record regarding the location of the fort, its actual boundaries have not been identified. Three archaeological investigations have taken place on the park property. Results of excavations from 2011, 2012, and 2013 displayed below ground features, though none were associated with the colonial time period. Following an analysis of the 2011-2013 investigations, two 3-meter by 3-meter blocks were placed in the location most likely to contain the Fort. The primary hypothesis set out to understand the boundaries of the known colonial distribution, as well as compare the surface collection results to the below ground features on the property. The following thesis lays out the results of the 2014-2015 analysis and investigation of Fort Halifax Park.
